♡egg hair mask♡

So, I removed my purple from my hair and touched  up my roots meaning that my hair is now officially... dead (and blonde, but .... it's dead). So, I decided to do a little research on how to make your dead hair pull a Lazarus and come back to life.
look at that it's terrible i'm cry
So, something that I've been hearing a lot about is the amazing power of *insert drumroll here* eggs! And even more so, the power of egg yolks!
Eggs contain protein -- and lots of it. They also contain lecithin, a natural hair conditioner, so wouldn't it make sense to use it in your hair? So, I thinks to meself, "well, if eggs by themselves are supermegafoxyawesomehot, then... what if...?" and then this idea came to me: mix it all up.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 egg yolks (I have short hair, and this was enough for me)
- 3 tbsp mayonaisse (not miracle whip... nope)
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil
DIRECTIONS:
1. Prepare all your ingredients accordingly (separate the yolks from the whites, thaw out the coconut oil, etc.)
2.  Combine the yolks, mayo, honey and extra virgin olive oil in a bowl. Stir until it's smooth. Leave out the coconut oil for now.
3. When it's finally smooth, slowly pour in your coconut oil. Don't stop stirring because if you do, instead of a smooth consistency, you're going to have chunks of cooked eggs in there. Don't say I didn't warn you!
4. Stir for two more minutes just to make sure the coconut oil doesn't cook the eggs.
5. Put mixture in your hair. It's going to be thick, and a little sticky, but that's what we want. This isn't conditioner, it's a hair mask.
6. Cover with a plastic cap (I personally use a plastic bag, nbd), and wait 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, wash out of your hair with cold/mild water.
7. Shampoo and condition as usual and towel dry.
WARNINGS:
- heat is not your friend with this mixture, so unless you want to be washing scrambled eggs out of your hair, try to stay away from any type of heat
- this mixture does drip, so wear something that you're okay with getting an oil-based mixture on
- if your hair is somewhat healthy (your hair doesn't take 3 hours to dry, barely breaks, etc. etc) only use this hair mask twice a month. Too much of a good thing could be damaging.
- if your hair is like mine (so dead that parts of it became jelly --- omg), once a week should be good enough until your hair becomes a little more healthy
As I was typing this, I was actually waiting my 20 minutes for the hair mask to do its work. Now that I've rinsed it out I can honestly say that it's one of those "quick fixes" because already, my hair hasn't been falling out into my hand as i was finger combing it while it was wet. Maybe I'll come up with more of these --- and don't worry, I'll share :)
Happy hair healing!
